My name is Loretta Mercer, MPH, GC-C, and I am a certified grief counselor. My expertise is anticipatory grief, which is grieving an impending loss or a loss that is expected. I have over 22+ years as a grief counselor.

Healing Path is a grief counseling service that provides individual or group counseling to people stricken with grief and loss. I communicate with my clients through video calls/Zoom, texting, or phone calls. Healing Path was born because of my experience with grief and loss.

I lost my mother at the age of 12. She died of cancer. My father died when I was 15 years old of liver cancer. I moved in with my grandparents. It was comfortable for a short time before my grandmother died one year later of heart failure. I was 16 years old. My grandfather was heartbroken over my grandmother's death. A couple of months later, my grandfather told me he did not want to take care of me, so I was on my own to take care of myself at age 16.

I suffered different types of losses after that time. My story reveals that I am no stranger to grief and loss, and I look forward to hearing your story as well.
